How to reach Piz Boè

Piz Boe

Piz Boè is one of the most accessible 3,000-metre peaks in the Dolomites in terms of technical difficulty and altitude difference. The cable car from the Pordoi Pass makes it easy to reach the 2,950-metre altitude of Sass Pordoi in just a few minutes. However, there are several access routes available, with varying degrees of difficulty.

The cable car from the Pordoi Pass to Rifugio Maria, where there is a panoramic terrace offering a 360° view of the Dolomites, is the easiest option. From the refuge, take the well-marked path 627, which descends to the Forcella Pordoi pass, where the refuge of the same name is located. Continue to a fork where you leave path 627 to take path 638, which leads over easy rocks to the summit where the Capanna Piz Fassa hut is located.

The Boè hut can be reached from Sass Pordoi via path no. 627, from the Gardena pass via the Pisciadù hut, from Colfosco through the Mesdì valley, or through the Lasties valley starting from the Monti Pallidi hut. From the Boè hut, located at the base of the Piz pyramid, it is possible to follow path 638, which leads to the summit in 45 minutes via steep rocky cliffs. Some fixed metal ropes make it easier to overcome the most difficult part of the ascent to the summit.
