The Velo della Madonna Hut, owned by the SAT, is built on a rocky terrace at the foot of Cima della Madonna at an altitude of 2,358 meters, in the Pale di San Martino group. The “Velo della Madonna” is the sharp northwest ridge of the peak of the same name, where the thrilling climb of the “Spigolo del Velo” takes place — definitely one of the most fascinating and famous classic routes in all the Dolomites. From the hut, many via ferratas and equipped trails start: Ferrata Velo – Porton, Ferrata della Vecia, Nico Gusella Trail, Cacciatore, Dino Buzzati… Camillo De Paoli.
To reach the hut from San Martino via trails 721 or 713, it takes at least 3 hours and good physical conditioning. The hut has 56 beds, including small rooms with 4 beds and larger dormitories. Spending an evening at the hut is an unforgettable and unique experience, whether with a partner, friends, or family.
